Born Birmingham, 26 December 1843; 2nd son of late Walter Evans, who was associated with Pugin in the revival of mediaeval architecture; a cousin of George Eliot; married 1870, Marian (died 1902), daughter of late Samuel Hollyer.
Work:

Studied painting from 7 years of age under Samuel Lines of Birmingham; studied under late Edward Watson; 1865 came to London at age 21; exhibited regularly at Royal Academy from 1870 until his election to Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours; selected to represent English art in the Paris Exhibition; also St. Louis, 1903-1904; originated City of London Society of Artists; has pictures in the permanent collection at South Kensington, the Sydney Art Gallery, and the Melbourne Art Gallery; also in Cartwright Hall, Bradford.
